Wednesday

Yesterday we had the AGM of the All-Party Group on Pneumococcal Disease Prevention in the Third World, at which Jim Dobbin MP and I were elected co-chairs. In between Jim and me in the photograph are two new Members of the APPG: Stephen McPartland MP, Conservative MP for Stevenage, and Dr Eilidh Whiteford MP, SNP member for Banff and Buchan.

This morning, Subcommittee F on EU , at which the Committee agreed on two major inquiries, and had a discussion with Ed Lock, the Committee's EU Liaison Officer.

Then to King's College Hospital, for electrocardiogram and Cardio-Pulmonary Exercise Test (CPET), to see whether I'm fit enough for the repair to my aorta, to explain which I have an appointment with Mr R the vascular surgeon tomorrow. The CPET test involved pedalling an exercise bicycle against resistance increasing over a period of 20 minutes or so to 80 W, with a face mask to collect data about the breath, surface electrodes to measure heart function, and periodic measurement of blood pressure.
